YOUR HIT PARADE was a weekly network television program that aired from 1950 to 1959. The program featured the most popular songs of the previous week as determined by a national "survey" of record and sheet music sales. It had originated on radio in 1935. Original cast members for the TV program included Eileen Wilson, Snooky Lanson, Dorothy Collins and a wholesome array of young fresh-scrubbed "Hit Parade Singers and Dancers." Gisele MacKensie joined the cast in 1953. The TV show featured the top seven tunes of the week and several Lucky Strike extras. These extras were older more established popular songs that were very familiar to audiences. "Hit Parade" attempted to dramatize each song with innovative skits, elaborate sets, and a large entourage of performers. The programs are complete network shows with commercials. Presented are three shows from February 26, 1955, April 16,1955 and May 7, 1955. Some of the featured songs are: Mr. Sandman Kokomo (early Rock N Roll) Melody Of Love Tweedlee Dee Cherry Pink & Apple Blossom White Unchained Melody Dance With Me Henry and the #1 hit of 1955, The Ballad of Davy Crockett BONUS: A rare edited Canadian version of Your Hit Parade sponsored by Crosley television and Lucky Strike, from May 1,1954 110 minutes, b/w VHS DVD 10% discount on 3 or more shows www.encorehomevideo.com 1 (989) 652-9699 |
