THE COMEDY HOUR Presents
MICHAEL TODD'S REVUE
NBC. 1951. Kinescope. The Colgate Comedy Hour was one of the first big-budget variety series in television's early days. Colgate-Palmolive-Peet picked up the tab for three of the four weeks and the Colgate Comedy Hour was born in 1951 with Eddie Cantor, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis and Fred Allen as hosts.
The fourth show of the month was sponsored originally by Frigidaire and appeared for a short time under the titles NBC Comedy Hour presents Michael Todd's Revue with Todd producing and comic Bobby Clark scheduled to alternate with Bob Hope as host.
This Kinescope dates from 1/21/51. Old-time vaudevillian and RKO comedy star Bobby Clark, of Clark and McCullough fame, is host and shows the years had not dimmed his zest for devilment in his surreal world. Nor had his eye for the fair lass diminished.
Also featured are Julie Wilson, Willie West & McGinty and The Maxwell's. Bobby Lane And Claire, and Jack Mann, Dick Dana.
